چکیده

Sera from nine patients with cryptococcal infections and from four with rheumatoid arthritis and positive rheumatoid factor were examined for the presence of cryptococcal capsular antigen by the latex agglutination method. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid-heat treatment of the sera before testing possibly increased sensitivity as compared with the untreated sera, and the interfering rheumatoid factor activity was eliminated.

Effect of potential interference factors on performance of enzyme immunoassay and latex agglutination assay for cryptococcal antigen.

The PREMIER Cryptococcal Antigen Enzyme Immunoassay (Meridian Diagnostics) did not give discrepant results with rheumatoid factor, syneresis fluid, or serum macroglobulins from systemic lupus erythematosis patients. The Cryptococcal Antigen Latex Agglutination System (Meridian Diagnostics) did cross-react with syneresis fluid but not with the other serum factors tested.

Comparison of the PREMIER cryptococcal antigen enzyme immunoassay and the latex agglutination assay for detection of cryptococcal antigens.

A new enzyme immunoassay (EIA), PREMIER Cryptococcal Antigen, was compared with latex agglutination (LA) for the detection and quantitation of circulating capsular polysaccharide antigen from Cryptococcus neoformans. The clinical evaluation of PREMIER EIA as a screening assay, including 475 specimens with 120 LA and EIA positives, resulted in 99% sensitivity and 97% specificity. The clinical sp...

Comparison of three commercial cryptococcal latex kits for detection of cryptococcal antigen.

Three commercial latex kits, IBL, MYCO-Immune, and IMMY, for the detection of cryptococcal antigen were compared in regard to sensitivity, specificity, and height of antigen titers. A total of 218 cerebrospinal fluid and 79 serum specimens from 239 patients were included. Twenty-two patients had culture-proven disseminated cryptococcosis. Both the IBL and MYCO-Immune kits had sensitivities of 1...

High Serum Levels of Rheumatoid Factor and Anti-Phosphatidylserine Antibody in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease

Background: Immunopathological and inflammatory processes play important roles in the initiation and development of Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD). Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the serum levels of several autoantibodies including rheumatoid factor (RF), anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA), anti-small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (anti-Sm), anti-phosphatidylserine (anti-PS) and anti-car...

Study effects of Staphylococcus aureus superantigen C on production of C- reactive protein in rat

Background and purpose: Recently, microbial super antigens have been reported in blood and synovial fluid of rheumatoid arthritis patients. Whether or not, the presence of these super antigens could provoke the induction of serologic diagnostic factors, including CrP in patients? the purpose of this study was to production and purification one of the super antigen C of Staphylococcus aureus and...
